LIST: Names of PH tropical cyclones for 2026

LIST: Names of PH tropical cyclones for 2026

PAGASA is set to use a new set of names for the 2026 typhoon season.

Every year, the state weather bureau renews its list of cyclone names that follow the alphabetical order from A to Z, except for the letter X.

For 2026, PAGASA is set to use its Set II, which was the basis of the names used in 2022. According to PAGASA, a domestic tropical cyclone name is decommissioned or "retired" if it directly caused at least 300 deaths or  P1 billion in damage to houses, agriculture, and infrastructure, based on figures from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

With this, the names Agaton, Florita, Karding, and Paeng—all powerful tropical cyclones which devastated the country in 2022—will no longer be used.

"Their replacement names, ADA, FRANCISCO, KIYAPO, and PILANDOK, will be introduced during the 2026 season," PAGASA said.

Here is the list of cyclone names for the 2026 typhoon season:

  • Ada
  • Basyang

  • Domeng
  • Ester
  • Francisco
  • Gardo

  • Diego
  • Elena
  • Felino
  • Gunding

PAGASA earlier said that at least eight storms may be expected to hit the country in the first half of 2026, with up to one storm expected monthly from January to April, and at least one or two forecast each in May and June. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
