3 weather systems to bring rains over PH on 1st day of 2026


Several weather systems are causing cloudy skies and rains in several parts of the country on the first day of 2026, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.

According PAGASA’s 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the shear line may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Western Visayas.

Mindanao and the rest of Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms as a result of the easterlies.

The Northeast Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Isabela, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the rest of Luzon.

The state weather bureau warned of possible flash floods or landslides may occur in some areas due to the weather systems.

Meanwhile, strong to gale-force winds may be felt in the northern section of Northern Luzon.

The rest of Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough waters, while the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.
