Cloudy skies, scattered rains seen across PH on Sunday
Much of the country can expect mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain and isolated thunderstorms on Sunday, with possible flash floods and landslides in some areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday.
In its 4 a.m. Sunday weather advisory, PAGASA said a shear line affecting Palawan and parts of the Visayas, the northeast monsoon over Luzon, and easterly winds over Mindanao are influencing weather conditions nationwide.
Under the forecast conditions, the Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Palawan are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.
Moderate to heavy showers may occur in some areas due to the shear line, which could trigger flash floods or landslides, PAGASA said.
The Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, MIMAROPA, and the rest of the Bicol Region are forecast to experience cloudy skies with general rains brought by the northeast monsoon, with the risk of flash floods or landslides in vulnerable locations.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will likely see cloudy skies with light rains under the influence of the northeast monsoon, with no significant impacts immediately anticipated.
In Mindanao, easterly winds are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, which may also pose flood or landslide hazards in areas experiencing heavier rainfall.
PAGASA also warned of strong to gale-force northeast winds and rough to very rough seas over the northern and eastern parts of Luzon, while moderate to strong winds are forecast elsewhere.
Some areas of Mindanao may experience lighter winds and calmer waters.
