PAGASA: Shear line, Amihan to bring rains, thunderstorms to parts of PH
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Luzon and the eastern sections of the country in the next 24 hours due to the combined effects of a shear line, the Northeast Monsoon, and easterly winds, the state weather bureau said Sunday.
In its 4 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said a shear line is affecting the eastern portions of Central and Southern Luzon, while the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan continues to influence the rest of Luzon.
Easterlies are reportedly prevailing over the rest of the country.
PAGASA said Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora and Quezon provinces will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms caused by the shear line. Moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides in susceptible areas.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are also forecast over the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur due to easterly winds.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas as a result of moderate to heavy rainfall.
Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, the remaining parts of CALABARZON, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan are expected to have cloudy skies with light rains brought about by the Northeast Monsoon, with no significant weather impacts anticipated.
The Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also due to the Northeast Monsoon. No significant impacts are forecast in these areas.
The rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies, with PAGASA cautioning that severe thunderstorms could still lead to localized flooding or landslides.
PAGASA reported that the maximum temperature recorded at its Science Garden station in Quezon City reached 29.8 degrees Celsius at 11 a.m. Saturday, while the minimum temperature dipped to 22.9 degrees Celsius at 6:30 a.m.Sunrise is expected at 6:24 a.m., while sunset will occur at 5:44 p.m. —MCG/KG, GMA Integrated News
