Ada maintains strength as 12 areas placed under Signal no. 1
Twelve areas are now under Signal no. 1 as Tropical Depression Ada maintained its strength and moves over the Philippine Sea east of Surigao del Norte, according to PAGASA’s 11 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin.
Areas under Signal no. 1 are:
- Sorsogon
- The southeastern portion of Albay (Rapu-Rapu, Manito, Legazpi City, Bacacay, Santo Domingo)
- Catanduanes
- Northern Samar
- Samar
- Eastern Samar
- The eastern portion of Biliran (Maripipi, Kawayan, Culaba, Caibiran, Cabucgayan)
- The eastern portion of Leyte (Carigara, Barugo, San Miguel, Babatngon, Tacloban City, Tunga, Jaro, Alangalang, Santa Fe, Palo, Dagami, Pastrana, Tanauan, Tabontabon, Julita, Dulag, Tolosa, La Paz, Mayorga, Macarthur, Javier, Abuyog, Mahaplag)
- The eastern portion of Southern Leyte (Silago, Sogod, Libagon, Saint Bernard, Hinunangan, Hinundayan, Anahawan, San Juan, Liloan, San Ricardo, San Francisco, Pintuyan)
- Dinagat Islands
- Surigao del Norte
- Surigao del Sur

Ada was last located 420 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
It had maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gustiness of up to 70 kph as it moves west northwestward at 10 kph.
PAGASA noted that the highest possible wind signal to be hoisted throughout the forecast period was Signal no. 2.
It added that Ada may intensify into a tropical storm within the day and continue strengthen as it moves over the Philippine Sea.
PAGASA also said that Ada may pass close to Eastern Samar and Northern Samar by Friday evening or Saturday morning. Possible landfall scenario may also occur over Eastern Visayas and the Bicol Region. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
