No wind signals in effect as Tropical Storm Ada moves northward over PH Sea

PAGASA: No wind signals due to Ada as of 11 p.m. Jan 18, 2026

There are no wind signals in effect as of late Sunday night as Tropical Storm Ada maintained its strength and moved northward over the Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau said.

In its 11 p.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA said the center of Ada was estimated to be 275 km northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and central pressure of 998 hPa. It is moving northward at 15 km/h.

PAGASA said no wind signals are currently hoisted due to the tropical storm, but warned that heavy rainfall and severe winds may be experienced in localities outside the landfall point and the forecast confidence cone.

In its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said Catanduanes and Camarines Sur may experience rains with gusty winds due to Ada.

Ada will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Northern Samar, and the rest of the Bicol Region.

In its 11 p.m. tropical cyclone update, PAGASA added that the tropical storm is forecast to move generally northeastward until Monday, January 19.

From Monday onwards, Ada is “forecast to follow a looping track over the sea east of Luzon.” The state weather bureau said changes in forecast track over the succeeding bulletins are possible.

Due to the surge of the northeast monsoon, Ada is forecast to weaken into a tropical depression by Monday before further weakening into a low pressure area (LPA) by Wednesday.

PAGASA said an earlier weakening of the weather disturbance remains possible. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
