Ada to still bring rains after weakening into tropical depression

Ada weakens into tropical depression, but to still bring cloudy skies, scattered rains

Even though Ada has weakened into a tropical depression, its trough will still bring cloudy skies and scattered rains in some parts of the country on Monday, the state weather said.

In its 5 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin, PAGASA said the center of Tropical Depression Ada was estimated to be 380 km east of Casiguran, Aurora as of 4 a.m. Monday.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center with gustiness of up to 70 km/h. Ada is moving north northeastward at 10 km/h.

No wind signals are in effect as Ada weakened into a tropical depression as of 2 a.m. Monday.

Aside from Ada, the state weather bureau noted in its 4 a.m. daily weather forecast that the Northeast Monsoon is affecting Northern Luzon.

The trough of Ada will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, and Northern Samar, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

PAGASA said Ada will move generally northeastward on Monday today before following a looping track over the sea east of Luzon.

“Continuous dry air entrainment from the northeast monsoon is expected to result in gradual weakening of Ada. It may be downgraded into a low pressure area by Wednesday (21 January), although earlier weakening remains possible,” it said.

Meanwhile, Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with light rains die to the Northeast Monsoon. The Northeast Monsoon will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

The northern and eastern sections of Luzon as well as the eastern section of Visayas will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters conditions.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
