Ada maintains strength as it moves away from Luzon landmass
Tropical Depression Ada (international name: Nokaen) maintained its strength Monday morning as it moves northeastward away from the Luzon landmass, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the center of Ada was located at 445 km east of Casiguran, Aurora as of 10 a.m. It is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 1000 hPa.
Ada is moving northeastward at 10 km/h.
PAGASA said Ada is forecast to move generally east northeastward for the next 24 hours before turning eastward to east southeastward from evening of Tuesday, January 20, until Wednesday, January 21.
It added continuous dry air entrainment from the northeast monsoon is expected to result in gradual weakening of Ada.
"It may be downgraded into a low pressure area by Wednesday, although earlier weakening remains possible," the state weather bureau said.
PAGASA said the surge Northeast Monsoon will also bring strong to gale-force gusts in coastal and upland areas of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, northern and eastern mainland Cagayan, eastern Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
