Ada moves away from Northern Luzon, now east over Philippine Sea

Tropical Depression Ada is now moving eastward over the Philippine Sea past northern Luzon, PAGASA said Tuesday.

According to the 5 p.m. weather bulletin of the state weather bureau, the center of Ada was last monitored 970 kilometers east of northern Luzon. It is moving eastward at 25 kilometers per hour.

The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said Ada is forecast to move generally southeastward for the next 24 hours.

“Continuous dry air entrainment from the northeast monsoon is expected to result in gradual weakening of Ada,” the state weather bureau said.

Ada is expected to weaken into a low pressure area by Wednesday, January 21, said PAGASA.

Meanwhile, the 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m. said the northeast monsoon and localized thunderstorms are expected to bring rains over parts of the country.

The northeast monsoon or Amihan is expected to bring cloudy skies with light rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Marinduque.

Likewise, the northeast monsoon is forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and the rest of Calabarzon.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms are forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms over the rest of the country.

Further, PAGASA said that another low pressure area (LPA 01c) is being monitored outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility. However, it has a low chance of becoming a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
