PAGASA: Ada slowly moving away from Luzon

PAGASA: Ada slowly moving away from Luzon

Tropical Depression Ada (international name: Nokaen) is now moving in the east southeast direction while over the sea east of Northern Luzon on Wednesday morning, according to the latest Tropical Cyclone Bulletin posted by PAGASA.

The center of Tropical Depression Ada was estimated at 1,215 kilometers east of Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and moving east southeastward at the speed of 20 km/h.

There are no active Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals.

As of 2 a.m., PAGASA reported that another Low Pressure Area (LPA 01c) is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Severe Winds

The surge of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will also bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds) today: Most of Luzon, Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, Basilan, and Tawi-Tawi.

Hazards affecting coastal waters

A Gale Warning is in effect over the eastern seaboards of Luzon and northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon. Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.

Track and Intensity Outlook

Tropical Depression Ada is forecast to move generally southeastward for the next 24 hours, said PAGASA.

Dry air entrainment from the surge of northeast monsoon will result in downgrading Ada into a low pressure area on Wednesday, January 21 or on Thursday January 22, early morning. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
