PAGASA: Amihan to bring light rains over parts of Luzon, Visayas
The Northeast Monsoon or Amihan is affecting Luzon and Visayas, causing cloudy skies with light rains over several provinces in these areas, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.
In its Friday afternoon bulletin, PAGASA said the Amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Mindoro Oriental, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, and Biliran.
Meanwhile, a shear line is forecast to cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, and the rest of Eastern Visayas. Flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains may occur in these areas.
Localized thunderstorms were expected over the rest of Mindanao, marked by partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. PAGASA warned that flash floods or landslides may hit these areas in the event of severe thunderstorms.
The Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
Strong to gale-force winds with rough to very rough waters may hit the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough seas may be observed over the rest of the country.
As of 3 p.m. Friday, PAGASA spotted a low pressure area (LPA), formerly Tropical Depression Ada, at 560 kms east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
The LPA remains inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and is unlikely to re-develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
