PAGASA predicts Amihan to bring colder temperatures as January draws to a close
The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is expected to intensify and bring colder temperatures across large parts of the country this week, PAGASA said Monday.
“Posibleng pa pong mas lumakas pa pong ating Northeast Monsoon ngayong week, possibly by Thursday, na kung saan maaari pong malaking bahagi uli ng ating bansa yung makatala ng pagbaba pa uli ng temperatura,” PAGASA weather specialist Charmagne Varilla told “Balitanghali.”
(The Northeast Monsoon may further intensify this week, possibly by Thursday, which could bring cooler temperatures to many areas in the country.)
Varilla said cooler temperatures are expected in Luzon, particularly in the mountainous areas in Northern Luzon like Benguet, Baguio, Cagayan Valley, the Ilocos Region, and the Cordillera Administrative Region
Cooling temperatures are also observed in Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Rizal, and Quezon Province.
“As of now, ang nakikita natin ay posible yun (6°C to 7°C), pero based sa mga dita ngayon, more on siguro bababa siya, pinakamababa na siguro mga 9°C or 8°C,” Varilla said.
(As of now, temperatures of 6°C to 7°C are possible, but based on current data, they are more likely to drop to around 9°C or 8°C at the lowest.)
Based on PAGASA's 4 p.m. weather forecast, the Amihan will affect the weather conditions of Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, Western Visayas, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Camarines Norte, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon in the next 24 hours, but with no significant impact. –NB, GMA Integrated News
