Shear line, Amihan to bring rains in parts of Luzon, Visayas

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected over parts of Luzon and the Visayas this weekend as a shear line interacts with the Northeast Monsoon, PAGASA said on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the shear line is affecting eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas—including Bicol, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon—bringing moderate to heavy rains that could trigger flash floods or landslides.

Mindanao and the rest of MIMAROPA are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized disturbances, which may also cause flooding or landslides in affected areas.

Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, with no significant weather disruptions expected.

PAGASA said winds over Luzon and the Visayas will be moderate to strong from the northeast, producing moderate to rough coastal waters with waves reaching up to 3.7 meters. Mindanao will have light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest, with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The sun will rise at 6:03 a.m. and set at 5:50 p.m. today. —MCG, GMA Integrated News
