Shear line, Amihan rain effects linger over Luzon, Visayas

Several areas in Luzon and the Visayas will continue to experience cloudy skies and rain over the next 24 hours due to a shear line and the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

According to its 4 p.m. forecast, cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms will persist over the Visayas as well as Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate due to the shear line.

Mindanao is expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather disturbances. PAGASA warned that these conditions may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, the Amihan will influence the weather over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, although no significant impact is expected.

State meteorologists also said winds over Luzon and the Visayas will be moderate to strong, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough. Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

Sunrise in Metro Manila is forecast at 6:24 a.m. on Monday.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
