Basyang to bring heavy to intense rains over parts of PH
Tropical Storm Basyang will bring heavy to intense rains over parts of the country while the Northeast Monsoon (amihan) will be affecting Northern and Central Luzon," PAGASA reported.
As of 3 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Basyang was estimated to be in the vicinity of Kitcharao, Surigao del Norte with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h. Basyang is moving West Northwestward at the speed of 25 km/h.
Forecast Weather Conditions
Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga will be stormy due to Basyang. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to heavy to intense with at times torrential rains. PAGASA added that there may be minor to moderate threat to life and property due to strong to-gale force winds.
The rest of Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao del Sur, Masbate, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan will have rains with gusty winds due to Basyang with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains. There may be minimal to minor threat to life and property due to strong winds.
Basyang will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, the rest of Mindanao, Quezon, and Marinduque. Flash floods or landslides in these areas is possible due to moderate to heavy rains.
Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to Basyang's Trough. Flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas during severe thunderstorms.
The rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon but this will have no significant impact.
Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions
The wind speed forecast for the rest of Mindanao is moderate to strong moving in the Northwest to Southwest direction with moderate to rough coastal waters.
Southern Luzon will experience moderate to strong wind speed moving in the Northeast to North direction with moderate to rough coastal waters.
The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the Northeast to East direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
