PAGASA warns of 'serious flooding,' landslides in 4 Eastern Visayas provinces

State meteorologists on Tuesday afternoon warned that "serious flooding" was expected in low-lying areas in four provinces in Eastern Visayas amid heavy rains due to a shear line.

In its 5 p.m. heavy rainfall warning bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said these provinces may also be hit by landslides in mountainous areas.

A red warning for such threats was raised over the following locations:

• Samar
• Eastern Samar
• Biliran
• Leyte (Alangalang, Babatngon, Barugo, Calubian, Capoocan, Carigara, Isabel, Jaro, Kananga, Leyte, Matag-Ob, Merida, Ormoc City, Palo, Palompon, Pastrana, San Isidro, San Miguel, Santa Fe, Tabango, Tacloban City, Tunga and Villaba)

Meanwhile, an orange warning, which means that flooding and landslides were "threatening," was hoisted over the following areas:

• Negros Occidental (Sagay City, City of Escalante, Toboso, Manapla, Enrique B. Magalona, Silay City, Cadiz City, Calatrava, Salvador Benedicto, City Of Victorias, Bacolod City, Murcia, Bago City, Pulupandan, Valladolid, La Carlota City, La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Pontevedra, Hinigaran, San Enrique, San Carlos City, City of Talisay)
• Cebu (Aloguinsan, Asturias, Balamban, Bantayan, Barili, City of Bogo, Borbon, City of Carcar, Carmen, Catmon, Cebu City, Compostela, Consolacion, Cordova, Daanbantayan, Danao City, Lapu-Lapu City, Liloan, Madridejos, Mandaue City, Medellin, Minglanilla, City of Naga, Pilar, Pinamungajan, Poro, San Fernando, San Francisco, San Remigio, Santa Fe, Sogod, Tabogon, Tabuelan, City of Talisay, Toledo City, Tuburan, Tudela)
• Southern Leyte
• Leyte (Abuyog, Albuera, Bato, City of Baybay, Burauen, Dagami, Dulag, Hilongos, Hindang, Inopacan, Javier, Julita, La Paz, MacArthur, Mahaplag, Matalom, Mayorga, Tabontabon, Tanauan and Tolosa)

Further, a yellow warning was declared in the following places, indicating "possible" flooding in low-lying areas and potential landslides in mountainous sites:

• Negros Occidental (Isabela, Binalbagan, City of Himamaylan, City of Kabankalan, Hinoba-An, Candoni, City of Sipalay, Ilog, Cauayan)
• Guimaras
• Bohol
• Cebu (Alcantara, Alcoy, Alegria, Argao, Badian, Boljoon, Dalaguete, Dumanjug, Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Moalboal, Oslob, Ronda, Samboan, Santander, Sibonga)
• Negros Oriental
