Two LPAs may form near Philippines until Valentine's weekend — PAGASA
Two low pressure areas (LPAs) may form near the country until the upcoming Valentine's weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.
According to a Balitanghali weather report, PAGASA said an LPA may form near the southern portion of Palawan until Sunday, February 15.
Another LPA may form east of Mindanao and may closely approach the area, although it has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
In its own advisory, however, PAGASA said that as of 8 a.m. Wednesday, no LPAs were being monitored for tropical cyclone formation inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Residents of Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar were expected to experience 500 to 100 millimeters of rain from Wednesday to Thursday noon due to the effects of a shear line.
The Northeast Monsoon and the shear line continue to bring rains and heavy gusts over other parts of Luzon and Visayas. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
