Shear line, monsoon to bring rains over parts of Luzon, Visayas — PAGASA

A shear line and prevailing wind systems will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over several parts of the country in the next 24 hours, with possible flash floods or landslides in affected areas, PAGASA said on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA said the shear line is affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon, while the northeast monsoon is influencing the rest of Northern Luzon.

Easterlies are affecting the rest of the country.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are expected over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Rizal due to the shear line, which may trigger moderate to at times heavy rains and possible flooding or landslides.

Similar conditions are forecast over Western Visayas, Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi due to the easterlies, with PAGASA likewise warning of localized flooding and landslides from moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon, with no significant impact expected.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies. PAGASA said severe thunderstorms may still cause localized flash floods or landslides.

PAGASA recorded a maximum temperature of 28.7°C at 2 p.m. and a minimum of 24.6°C at 5 a.m.
