PAGASA: Heavy rainfall warning issued for Siargao, parts of Mindanao

A heavy rainfall warning was issued for several areas in Mindanao by PAGASA on early Saturday morning due to the prevailing shear line over the region.

In its Heavy Rainfall Warning No. 1 issued at 5:00 a.m., a Yellow Warning is up for the Dinagat Islands and Surigao Del Norte that includes Socorro and Siargao Island.

“FLOODING is Possible in Low-Lying Areas and LANDSLIDE in mountainous areas,” the state weather agency said.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said light to moderate rains are expected over Camiguin, SurigaoDelSur (Lingig, City of Bislig, Tagbina, Lianga, SanAgustin, Marihatag, Cagwait, Bayabas, SanMiguel, Tago, Barobo, Hinatuan), Agusan Del Norte (LasNieves, Nasipit, Buenavista, Butuan City, Magallanes, Remedios T .Romualdez, Carmen, Tubay), Agusan Del Sur, Davao De Oro (Monkayo, Laak, Montevista, Compostela), Davao Del Norte (Kapalong, Talaingod, SanIsidro, Asuncion),  Bukidnon (Sa nFernando, Quezon, Kitaotao, Dangcagan, Cabanglasan), North Cotabato(Arakan, M'Lang, Tulunan), Davao Oriental, Maguindanao Del Norte (Datu Blah T. Sinsuat), Maguindanao Del Sur (Pagalungan, Pagagawan), South Cotabato (Banga, City Of Koronadal, Surallah), Misamis Oriental (Kinoguitan, Sugbongcogon, Balingoan, Talisayan) and Lanao Del Norte within the next 2-3 hours.

Moderate to heavy rains arecurrently  being experienced in Surigao Del Norte (Alegria, Claver, Gigaquit, Tubod, Mainit, Bacuag, Malimono, Placer, Sison, TaganaAn, SanFrancisco, SurigaoCity), Surigao Del Sur (City Of Tandag, Carmen, Lanuza, Madrid, Cortes, Cantilan, Carrascal), Agusan Del Norte(City Of Cabadbaran, Santiago, Jabonga and Kitcharao) which may persist within 2-3 hours and may affect nearby areas.

The agency advised public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned to monitor the weather condition. The next warning to be issued at 8:00 a.m. today. —RF, GMA Integrated News
