Shear line, amihan to bring rains over Visayas, parts of Mindanao — PAGASA
A shear line affecting the eastern section of the Visayas and the northeast monsoon (amihan) prevailing over Luzon and the rest of the Visayas will continue to influence weather conditions across the country in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday.
In its 4 a.m. advisory, PAGASA reported that Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Surigao del Norte, and Dinagat Islands will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
Moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides in these areas, the agency said.
Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora provinces will have cloudy skies with light rains caused by the northeast monsoon, although no significant impacts are expected.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, along with the remaining parts of the Visayas, will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also associated with the amihan, with minimal weather-related risks, according to PAGASA.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to easterlies.
PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could still cause localized flash floods or landslides.
Moderate to strong northeast winds will prevail over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas, producing moderate to rough seas with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 2.8 meters.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds from the east to northeast, with slight to moderate coastal waters of 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
