‘Danger level’ heat index expected in Coron, Palawan on Thursday, March 5, 2026

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Wednesday warned that Coron, Palawan will have a “danger level” heat index on Thursday, March 5, Thursday.

Based on the state weather bureau’s 5 p.m.bulletin, the synoptic stations in Coron, Palawan will measure a 42°C heat index.

PAGASA categorizes areas with a 42°C to 51°C heat index in the "danger" category, with a risk for heat stroke.

The heat index, often referred to as the "apparent temperature," represents how hot conditions feel to the human body by factoring in both air temperature and relative humidity.

PAGASA classifies temperatures between 42 degrees Celsius and 51 degrees Celsius as the "danger" level, where heat cramps and exhaustion are likely, and heat stroke is possible with continued exposure. The weather bureau urges the public to limit outdoor activities, remain hydrated, and wear fresh clothes to avoid heat-related illnesses.
