Heat index: Dagupan, Catarman hit danger level on Saturday, March 7, 2026
Two places in the Philippines on Saturday recorded a heat index classified under the danger level by the state weather bureau PAGASA.
Dagupan City in Pangasinan and Catarman, Northern Samar posted heat indices of 43°C and 42°C, respectively.
PAGASA categorizes areas with 42°C to 51°C heat index under the danger category, while areas with 52°C and above fall under extreme danger.
Heat stroke is imminent under extreme danger, while heat cramps, exhaustion, and heat stroke are possible under the danger level.
Meanwhile, a total of 15 areas may experience a heat index under extreme caution category on Sunday.
Extreme caution, according to PAGASA, refers to heat indices between 33°C and 41°C, where heat exhaustion and cramps may occur.
