LPA trough to bring rain over eastern Visayas, Mindanao
The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will bring cloudy skies and rain to the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao over the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.
As of 2 p.m., the LPA still had a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to PAGASA’s social media post.
It was located 1,145 kilometers east of Northeastern Mindanao.
Cloudy skies with rain will also persist over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the Bicol Region due to the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), according to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather forecast.
State meteorologists warned that these conditions may trigger flash floods or landslides.
The Amihan will also affect the Cordillera Administrative Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon, although no significant impacts are expected.
Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA said winds will be strong and coastal waters rough over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas.
Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough coastal waters.
In the rest of the country, winds will be light to moderate while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
Sunrise in Metro Manila on Monday will be at 6:08 a.m.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
