Cloudy skies, rains in Visayas, Mindanao due to LPA trough

The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) and the Northeast Monsoon are forecast to bring cloudy skies and rains in different parts of the Philippines on Monday, the state weather bureau said.

In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast, PAGASA said the Northeast Monsoon is affecting Luzon while the trough of an LPA is affecting Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA said the LPA outside of the Philippine area of responsibility was 1,470 kilometers east of Northeastern Mindanao as of 2 a.m. Monday and has a medium chance of becoming a tropical depression in the next 24 hours.

The trough of the LPA is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Visayas, Mindanao, Sorsogon, and Masbate, with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon will cause cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of Bicol Region, with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The Amihan will also bring cloudy skies with light rains to Cordillera Administrative Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience strong winds and rough seas while Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
