LPA trough to bring rains to Visayas, Mindanao
The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) will continue to bring cloudy skies and rain over the Visayas and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Monday afternoon.
In its 4 p.m. weather forecast, PAGASA said Masbate and Palawan will also experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA trough.
PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will affect Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Quezon, the rest of the Bicol Region, Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon, although no significant impacts are expected.
As of 2 p.m., the LPA outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
It was last located 1,505 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
State meteorologists also said moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and the Visayas, Northern Luzon, the eastern section of Central Luzon, and the eastern section of Mindanao.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
