Tropical depression's trough to bring rain in eastern Visayas, Mindanao

The trough of the tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) will bring cloudy skies and rain in the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Tuesday afternoon.

According to the state weather bureau’s 4 p.m. weather forecast, the affected areas are Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.

As of 2 p.m., the tropical depression was located 1,315 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, packing maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and is moving north northwestward slowly.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will affect the weather conditions of Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Metro Manila, and the rest of Luzon, but with no significant impact.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be observed throughout the rest of the country.

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods or landslides.

State meteorologists also said winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao, and Luzon.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

Sunrise in Metro Manila on Wednesday will be at 6:07 a.m. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
