Amihan, trough of tropical storm to bring cloudy skies, rains over parts of PH
The Northeast Monsoon (amihan) wil bring cloudy skies with rains over Luzon and Visayas while the trough of Tropical Storm Nuri, which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), will be affecting the eastern section of Mindanao on Thursday, PAGASA reported.
As of 3 a.m., the Tropical Cyclone outside PAR, Nuri was located 1,415 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center, with gustiness of up to 80 km/h and moving east northeastward at the speed of 10 km/h.
Forecast weather conditions
Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought about by the Trough of the Tropical Storm. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with rains brought about by the Northeast Monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The rest of Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Apayao, and Kalinga will have cloudy skies with light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon but this will have no significant impact.
The rest of Mindanao, Eastern Samar, Leyte, and Southern Leyte will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with the possibility of flash floods or landslides occurring during severe thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon with no significant impact.
Forecast wind and coastal water conditions
The wind speed forecast for northern and eastern sections of Luzon is moderate to strong moving Northeastward with moderate to rough coastal waters.
The eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao will experience moderate to strong wind speed moving in the northeast to north direction with moderate to rough coastal waters.
The rest of Luzon will experience moderate to strong with speed moving northeastward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the northeast to north direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
