Tropical depression Nuri trough to affect Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental
The trough of the tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is expected to bring cloudy skies and rains to Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Thursday afternoon.
As of 3 p.m., Tropical Depression Nuri was located 1,415 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. Nuri was moving east northeastward slowly.
The rest of Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms, according to the state weather bureau’s 4 p.m. weather forecast.
PAGASA warned that these weather systems may trigger flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will affect the weather conditions of Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao, but without significant impact.
Winds will be moderate to strong, while coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 6:05 a.m. on Friday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/VBL, GMA Integrated News
