The northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, will continue to affect large parts of the country, bringing cloudy skies, light rains, and cooler temperatures in several areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Sunday.

PAGASA said the Bicol Region, Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar may experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon.

The weather disturbance is not expected to cause significant impacts in these areas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, the rest of the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the Zamboanga Peninsula may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the same weather system.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms, which may trigger possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The ongoing amihan has also brought cooler temperatures in many parts of the country in recent days.

In the Cordillera region, temperatures have dropped significantly, with La Trinidad, Benguet recording 7.5°C, the coldest so far this northeast monsoon season, while Baguio City recorded around 9°C.

Lowland areas have also experienced cooler mornings, with several stations recording temperatures between 16°C and 18°C, according to PAGASA.

Strong northeast winds will prevail over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon.

PAGASA recorded a maximum temperature of 28.5°C and a minimum of 19.7°C at its weather station inQuezon City over the past 24 hours.

The sun will rise at 6:04 a.m. and is expected to set at 6:06 p.m.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
