PH to have “generally fair” weather during Holy Week 2026
The Philippines will be experiencing generally fair weather with possible rainfall in some areas during the Holy Week.
In a Balitanghali interview on Wednesday, PAGASA Assistant Weather Services chief Chris Perez said that most parts of the country will experience hot and humid weather save for a few moments of slight rain.
“Magdala pa rin tayo ng payong, lalo sa mga kababayan natin na pupunta sa mga ibang tourist spots o magbi-Visita Iglesia, para po proteksyon naman natin in case na bigla magkaroon ng mga panandaliang ulan na dulot naman ng mga localized thunderstorm, lalo na sa dakong hapon o gabi,” he advised.
(Let us still bring umbrellas, especially those who will be visiting various tourist spots or will do the Visita Iglesia, for our protection in case there will be sudden short rains caused by localized thunderstorms, especially around the late afternoon or evening.)
He also noted that temperatures will reach extreme caution level in Metro Manila, while danger level heat index will be felt in other areas.
On Thursday, a 45°C heat index may be expected in Virac, Catanduanes, while Cotabato City may have 42°C heat index.
“Avoid any unnecessary outdoor activities sa mga kababayan natin, lalong lalo po sa kasagsagan na init ng araw in between 12 to 3 in the afternoon,” Perez said.
(The public should avoid any unnecessary outdoor activities, especially during the peak of the heat in between 12 to 3 in the afternoon.)
Meanwhile, he said that localized thunderstorms may occur in the eastern section of the country due to the easterlies.
Perez said zero to one cyclone may occur in April 2026.
“Kung magkakaroon ng bagyo, either hindi man tumama sa ating bansa or kung tumama, it is usually towards the Visayas and Luzon area... Pero so far, in the next two weeks ay wala po tayong nakikitang bagyo na makakapekto po sa ating bansa,” he added.
(If there will be a typhoon, it will either not affect the country or if it will, it is usually towards the Visayas and Luzon area… But so far, in the next two weeks, we are not seeing any typhoons that will affect the country.) —AOL, GMA News
