Localized thunderstorms expected across PH

Several areas in the country will experience isolated rains in the next 24 hours due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said Thursday afternoon.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, according to PAGASA's 4 p.m. weather forecast.

PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.

The state weather bureau also continues to monitor the tropical depression within its Tropical Cyclone Information Domain (TCID).

At 3 p.m., the tropical depression was located 2,835 km east of Northeastern Mindanao, carrying maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h and moving almost stationary.

According to the PAGASA website, TCID is the agency's largest and outermost monitoring domain.

"Tropical cyclones present inside the TCID are of least concern for the forecasters but are necessary enough for monitoring and public awareness purposes," PAGASA said.

Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:46 a.m. on Friday. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/VBL, GMA News
