Tropical cyclone Hagupit enters PAR, renamed Caloy

Tropical cyclone Hagupit is now inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was given the local name Caloy, the state weather bureau PAGASA said on Saturday evening.

Caloy, currently a tropical storm, entered the PAR at 6 p.m. Tropical cyclone bulletins will be issued beginning at 11 p.m.

Earlier, PAGASA said Caloy, the third tropical cyclone this year, would remain over the Philippine Sea and was not expected to directly affect the weather and sea conditions of the country in the next 48 hours.

Caloy will also weaken in the coming days due to an unfavorable environment, PAGASA said. — VBL, GMA News
