'Danger' level heat index expected in over 30 areas on May 24, 2026 — PAGASA
More than 30 areas across the country are expected to experience "danger" level heat index on Sunday, May 24, 2026, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.
According to PAGASA’s heat index forecast, the following areas may record heat index levels ranging from 42°C to 46°C:

Meanwhile, 37 areas are expected to experience “extreme caution” heat index levels ranging from 33°C to 41°C, mostly in the regions of Negros Island, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Caraga.
Baguio City, Benguet, is the only area forecast to experience “caution” heat index level at 27°C.
The following areas are expected to record “not hazardous” heat index levels:
BSU, La Trinidad, Benguet - 25°C
Benguet Radar, Tuba, Benguet – 20°C
Heat index refers to the temperature felt by the human body when relative humidity is combined with actual air temperature.
High humidity slows the evaporation of sweat, making it more difficult for the body to cool down.
PAGASA advised the public to limit their time outside and use umbrellas or caps when outdoors. It also recommended drinking lots of water and avoiding the intake of tea, coffee, alcohol, and sodas. —Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/VBL, GMA News
