LPA trough to bring rains over Mindanao, Palawan — PAGASA
The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over parts of Mindanao and southern Philippines, with the state weather bureau warning of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rainfall.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the trough of the LPA is affecting Mindanao.
Mindanao, Palawan, Eastern Samar, and Southern Leyte are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the LPA trough.
PAGASA warned that moderate to occasionally heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, the Bicol Region and Quezon province will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies.
Similar weather conditions are expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, where localized thunderstorms may occur.
PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could still cause flash floods or landslides even in areas experiencing isolated rain showers.
In Metro Manila, temperatures recorded at PAGASA’s Science Garden station in Quezon City reached a maximum of 36.4 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m. on Saturday, while the minimum temperature was 26.2 degrees Celsius.
PAGASA said the sun is expected to rise at 5:27 a.m. and will set at 6:19 p.m. over Metro Manila on Sunday.—MCG, GMA News
