At least 53 areas are under the "danger" level heat index on Thursday, May 28, 2026, according to PAGASA.

Based on PAGASA’s five-day heat index forecast, the following areas may record "danger" heat index levels ranging from 42°C to 51°C, with the highest recorded in Sangley Point in Cavite with 47°C:

Baguio City, Benguet is one of three area forecast to experience "not hazardous" heat index level at 26°C, with 25°C in BSU La Trinidad, Benguet and the lowest with 21°C in Benguet Radar, Tuba, Benguet.

The heat index refers to the temperature felt by the human body when relative humidity is combined with actual air temperature. High humidity slows the evaporation of sweat, making it more difficult for the body to cool down.

PAGASA advised the public to limit their time outside, and use umbrellas or caps when outdoors. The state weather bureau also recommended drinking lots of water and avoiding intake of tea, coffee, and sodas. — BAP, GMA News
