17 areas under 'danger' heat index level on June 1 — PAGASA

At least 17 areas across the country are expected to experience “danger” level heat index on June 1, 2026, as June begins, according to PAGASA.

Based on the state weather bureau’s five-day heat index forecast on Sunday, the following areas may record “danger” heat index levels ranging from 42°C to 45°C:

45°C

  • Baler (Radar), Aurora
  • Casiguran, Aurora
  • Borongan, Eastern Samar

44°C

  • Infanta, Quezon
  • Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur

43°C

  • Catbalogan, Samar
  • Guiuan, Eastern Samar

42°C

  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan
  • DMMMSU Bacnotan, La Union
  • Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
  • Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite
  • Daet, Camarines Norte
  • Virac (Synop), Catanduanes
  • CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur
  • Roxas City, Capiz
  • Surigao City, Surigao del Norte
  • Butuan City, Agusan del Norte

Meanwhile, at least 56 areas are forecast to experience “extreme caution” heat index levels ranging from 33°C to 41°C, while at least two areas are under “caution” levels ranging from 27°C to 32°C.

The following areas in Benguet are expected to record “no hazardous” heat index levels:

  • Baguio City – 25°C
  • BSU La Trinidad, Benguet – 25°C
  • Benguet Radar, Tuba, Benguet – 19°C

The heat index refers to the temperature felt by the human body when relative humidity is combined with air temperature. High humidity slows the evaporation of sweat, making it harder for the body to cool down.

PAGASA advised the public to limit time outdoors and use umbrellas or caps when outside. It also recommended drinking plenty of water and avoiding tea, coffee, and soft drinks.—MCG, GMA News
