Josie moves northwestward to exit PAR on Tuesday — PAGASA

Tropical Storm Josie moves northwestward, to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Tuesday evening, according to the Tropical Cyclone Bulletin posted by PAGASA.

As of 4 a.m., the center of Tropical Storm Josie was estimated at 1,085 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and central pressure of 1002 hPa.

Josie is moving northwestward at the speed of 25 km/h with strong to gale-force winds extend outwards up to 480 km from the center.

The state weather bureau also reported that there are no Wind Signals is currently hoisted.

Heavy Rainfall Outlook

"Josie is less likely to directly affect the weather condition of the country throughout the forecast period," PAGASA said.

Severe Winds

The Southwest Monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas, especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds, over the following areas: Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.

Hazards affecting coastal waters

Up to rough seas over the following coastal waters:

  • Up to 3.0 m: The western seaboards of Babuyan Islands and Pangasinan; the seaboards of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and La Union.
  • Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced of operating ill-equipped vessels.

Up to moderate to rough seas over the following coastal waters:

  • Up to 2.5 m: The remaining seaboard of Pangasinan; the seaboards of Batanes and Zambales; the western seaboards of Bataan, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Islands.
  • Up to 2.0 m: The remaining seaboards of Babuyan Islands; the southern seaboard of Bataan; the northern seaboards of mainland Cagayan, Calamian Islands, and Kalayaan Islands.
  • Mariners of motor bancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.

Other coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m.

Track and Intensity Outlook

Tropical Storm Josie will move generally northward until Wednesday before turning northeastward throughout the remaining forecast period and is forecast to exit the PAR by Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning, the state weather bureau reported.

"Jose is forecast to steadily weaken into a tropical depression within the next 12 hours and may further weaken into a low pressure area by tomorrow due to unfavorable environment," the agency also said. — BAP, GMA News
