Kiyapo trough to bring rains over extreme Northern Luzon; Habagat continues to affect PH

Typhoon Kiyapo (international name “Noul”) is expected to affect extreme Northern Luzon on Sunday, July 26, 2026, according to the 4 p.m. bulletin of PAGASA on Saturday.

As of 3 p.m., Typhoon Kiyapo was estimated to be located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 560 km west of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gusts up to 160 kph.

The trough of Kiyapo is forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.

Also on Sunday, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is forecast to bring the following weather conditions:
• Occasional rains - Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro
• Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms - Metro Manila, Visayas, the rest of Luzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, and CARAGA
• Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms - the rest of Mindanao

PAGASA advised the projected affected areas of Kiyapo and Habagat to be on alert for possible flash floods or landslides during heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

Forecast wind conditions

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in extreme Northern Luzon, with waves running from 1.5 meters to 2.8 meters.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected in the rest of the country, with waves running from 0.6 meters to 2.1 meters in the rest of Luzon, and 0.6 meters to 1.8 meters in Visayas and Mindanao.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Saturday reached 31.2 degrees Celsius at 11 a.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 26.0 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m.
