Tropical Depression Luis prompts Signal No. 1 in Cagayan, Cordillera areas
Tropical Depression Luis has been spotted in the vicinity of Maconacon, Isabela, the state weather bureau PAGASA said in its 8 p.m. bulletin on Monday.
As of 7 p.m., Luis was estimated to be in the area and was recorded to have maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts up to 75 kph.
Due to the tropical depression, Wind Signal No. 1 was raised in the following parts of Luzon:
- Central and eastern portions of Cagayan (Enrile, Tuguegarao City, Peñablanca, Piat, Santo Niño, Camalaniugan, Tuao, Lal-Lo, Gonzaga, Alcala, Amulung, Santa Teresita, Baggao, Buguey, Solana, Rizal, Santa Ana, Gattaran, Iguig, Lasam, Aparri, Ballesteros, Abulug, Allacapan, Pamplona)
- Babuyan Islands (Camiguin Islands, Fuga Islands, Didicas Islands)
- Eastern and southern portions of Apayao (Flora, Santa Marcela, Conner, Pudtol, Luna)
- Eastern portion of Kalinga (City of Tabuk, Tanudan, Pinukpuk, Rizal)
- Eastern portion of Mountain Province (Paracelis, Natonin)
- Eastern portion of Ifugao (Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista)
- Isabela
PAGASA advised all areas flagged with wind threat to be on alert for possible minimal to minor impacts from strong winds, adding that it may be stronger or enhanced in coastal and upland areas.
Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat and the periphery of Luis are expected to bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas on August 3 and 4:
Most of Luzon and Visayas, Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, Camiguin, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Sarangani, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental. –NB, GMA News
