Maymay weakens into tropical depression; Signal No. 2 still up in 6 areas

Tropical Storm Maymay has weakened into a tropical depression on Thursday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its 10 a.m. update, PAGASA said that as of 8 a.m., Maymay was located in the vicinity of Tayum, Abra.

The tropical depression was packing winds of 55 km per hour (kph) and gusts of 90 kph while moving southeast slowly, according to PAGASA.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance continues to be monitored within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

Meanwhile, PAGASA said a separate weather system, Typhoon Dolphin, remained outside the PAR.Dolphin was last located 1,345 km east of northeast of Northern Luzon with winds of 150 kph and gusts of 185 kph.

The typhoon was moving west at 25 kph.

PAGASA advised the public to continue monitoring official weather updates and bulletins for the latest information on both weather systems.

In its 8 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the following areas are under Signal No. 2:

• Ilocos Norte
• the northern and central portion of Ilocos Sur (Gregorio del Pilar, Magsingal, San Esteban, Banayoyo, Cervantes, Burgos, City of Candon, Santa Lucia, Santiago, San Vicente, Santa Catalina, Lidlidda, Nagbukel, Sinait, Suyo, Sigay, San Ildefonso, Galimuyod, Quirino, City of Vigan, San Emilio, Cabugao, Caoayan, San Juan, Santa, Bantay, Santo Domingo, Tagudin, Santa Cruz, Santa Maria, Narvacan, Salcedo)
• the western portion of Apayao (Conner, Kabugao, Calanasan)
• Abra
• the western and central portion of Kalinga (Pasil, Tinglayan, Balbalan, Lubuagan, Pinukpuk, City of Tabuk, Tanudan)
• the western and central portions of Mountain Province (Besao, Tadian, Bauko, Sagada, Sabangan, Bontoc, Sadanga, Barlig, Natonin)

Meanwhile, Signal No. 1 is hoisted in the following areas:

• The rest of Ilocos Sur
• La Union
• the northwestern portion of Pangasinan (Bolinao, Anda, Bani)
• the rest of Apayao
• the rest of Kalinga
• the rest of Mountain Province
• Ifugao
• Benguet
• the southern portion of Babuyan Islands (Calayan Is., Dalupiri Is, Fuga Is., Camiguin Isl.),
• mainland Cagayan
• Isabela
• Quirino
• Nueva Vizcaya
• the northern and central portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao)
