Habagat rains expected over Luzon, western section of Visayas on Aug. 15 —PAGASA

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is expected to affect Luzon and the western section of Visayas on August 15, 2026, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Habagat is expected to bring occasional rains in Zambales and Bataan. Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and the rest of Central Luzon and Antique.

Habagat is also forecast to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms expected in the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

As of 2 p.m., a Low Pressure Area (LPA 08e) was monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility and has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

PAGASA advised the public to be on alert for possible flashfloods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in the northern and western sections of Luzon, with waves running from 2.1 meters to 2.8 meters.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected in the rest of the country, with waves running from 1.2 meters to 2.5 meters in the rest of Luzon and 0.6 meters to 1.8 meters in Visayas and Mindanao.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Friday reached 26.5 degrees Celsius at 11 a.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 25.1 degrees Celsius at 12 p.m.
