RAINFALL ALERT: Yellow up over Metro Manila, 5 Luzon areas (Monday, 8 am)

A Yellow Rainfall Warning has been raised over Metro Manila and five other Luzon areas due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Morning morning.

In its 8 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said the following areas are under yellow rainfall warning, which means flooding is expected in flood-prone areas:

  • Metro Manila
  • Cavite (Ternate, Naic, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Maragondon, Magallanes, General Trias, Bacoor, Cavite City, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta, Rosario, Tanza, Dasmariñas, Trece Martires, Indang)
  • Zambales (Santa Cruz, Candelaria, Palauig, Masinloc, Iba, Botolan)
  • Batangas (Nasugbu)
  • Rizal (Binangonan, Morong, Teresa, Angono, Taytay, Cardona, Cainta, Rodriguez, San Mateo, Antipolo)
  • Bataan (Orion, Limay, Mariveles, Bagac, Pilar, Balanga)

Habagat to bring cloudy skies, rains over Luzon and western Visayas

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Luzon and the western section of the Visayas on Monday, PAGASA reported.

Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan will have occasional rains due to the Southwest Monsoon while flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate or heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, the rest of Central Luzon, Ilocos Norte, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Catanduanes, Albay and Antique will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.

Flash floods and landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate or at times heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon and the rest of Western Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon while flash floods and landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms while flash floods and landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Forecast wind and coastal water conditions

The wind speed forecast for the northern and western section of Luzon is moderate to strong and moving southwestward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the south to southwest direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Sunrise will be at 5:42 a.m., sunset at 6:18 p.m.

LPAs

As of 2 a.m. Monday, the low pressure area (LPA) identified as LPA 08e has exited the monitoring domain of PAGASA.

Meanwhile, another low pressure area (LPA 08f) is still being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

LPA 08f was last estimated to be located at 1,040 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

It has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. — BAP/KG, GMA News
