RAINFALL ALERT: Red in Metro Manila, 5 other areas amid Habagat
A red rainfall alert denoting severe impact was placed on Metro Manila and parts of five neighboring provinces by the state weather bureau on Monday afternoon amid heavy and continuous rains caused by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
In its 3 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said severe, significant, and minor heavy rains/flooding were recorded in the following areas:

- Pampanga (Lubao, Floridablanca, Sasmuan, Macabebe, Masantol)
- Bataan (Abucay, Balanga, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Limay, Orani, Orion, Pilar, Samal)
- Bulacan (Hagonoy, Paombong, Malolos, Bulakan, Obando, Meycauayan, Marilao, Bocaue, Balagtas, Guiguinto, Calumpit)
- Rizal (Rodriguez, San Mateo, Cainta, Taytay)
- Cavite (Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta, Cavite City, Rosario, Tanza, Naic)

PAGASA said severe weather impacts are still expected on August 18 in Metro Manila and parts of Pampanga, Bataan, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal.
Meanwhile, significant impacts are predicted in Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, parts of Laguna, Batangas, and other parts of Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal.
Minor impacts of Habagat is forecast in Quezon and other parts of Batangas.
According to PAGASA, the highest potential impact is severe on August 17 to 18, with expected prolonged and widespread disruption to the day-to-day routines of households and businesses, and widespread damage to structurally deficient houses and buildings. —Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/RF, GMA News
