Habagat to bring cloudy skies, rains over Luzon; 2 LPAs medium chance to develop into tropical depressions
The southwest monsoon (habagat) was forecasted to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Luzon on Friday, PAGASA reported.
The state weather bureau also reported that as of 2 a.m., LPA 08f (formerly "Neneng") and LPA 08h are being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and both have a medium chance of redeveloping into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.
Severe Tropical Storm with international name Saudel is being monitored outside the PAR or 2,735 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas with maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 115 km/h, and moving in the north northwest direction at the speed of 25 km/h.
Forecast Weather Conditions
Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will prevail over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, Batanes, and Cagayan due to the southwest monsoon as flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms expected over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur during severe thunderstorms.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms and flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions
The wind speed forecast for northern and western sections of Luzon is moderate to strong and moving southwestward with moderate to rough coastal waters.
The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate wind speed moving southwestward while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
The rest of the country will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the south to southwest direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
