Typhoon Obet now inside PAR — PAGASA
Typhoon Obet (international name Saudel) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday afternoon.
According to PAGASA, Typhoon Obet entered PAR at 1:20 p.m.
Earlier, the state weather bureau said the typhoon is expected to remain over the Philippine Sea and exit PAR Monday night or in the early morning of August 25, 2026.
PAGASA will issue regular tropical cyclone bulletins for Obet starting 5 p.m. Monday.
In the past few weeks of August, the country was affected by continuous heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and tropical cyclones Luis, Maymay, and Neneng.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), a total of 2,035,185 families or 6,988,279 individuals have been affected by the Habagat and the three tropical cyclones as of August 24, 8:00 a.m.
The severe weather conditions resulted in at least 29 deaths, 17 injuries, and two missing individuals, according to the NDRRMC. — Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/RSJ, GMA News
