Authorities have tightened security at a food strip in Dagupan City following alleged incidents of theft.

Two individuals allegedly stealing from food stalls were caught on camera.

The video captured a man sweeping at a section of the food strip in Dagupan City. Moments later, he was seen taking a sack from inside a food stall and placing it in a trash bin.

A woman was also seen taking items from the stall, and the man took a case of soft drinks from inside the stall.

According to some stall attendants, items had started going missing from their stalls on July 1, 2024. There was also a tear on the side of the tarp covering the stall.

On July 2, the suspects were caught on video committing the theft.

"Sinend siya ng 3 a.m. tapos sinabi ko sa kanila… mga soft drinks [at] mga bottled water [ang nawala]," Nita, a food stall attendant, said.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the stall owner had spoken with the individuals involved in the video.

The suspects claimed they were simply organizing the items because they were left outside.

"Alleged ‘yung mga nagwawalis, nakita nila ‘yung pwesto na nakabukas. Wala ‘yung may-ari doon. So sa concern nila, kinuha daw nila ‘yung mga paninda doon para i-safe keep, at [ang] purpose nila [ay] kapag dumating ang may-ari saka nila ilalabas," PLT. Salvador Cacho, Chief Investigator at Dagupan City Police Station, said.

The parties have since resolved the issue, and the stolen items have been returned.
