A representative of the Municipality of Leon in Iloilo Province was crowned “Miss Iloilo 2024” in West Visayas State University Cultural Center on January 13, 2024.

Filipino-American Alexie Mae Caimoso Brooks, 22 years old, from Barangay Buga in Leon town won the title and three special awards - Best in Swimsuit, Best in Designer’s Fashion Show, and Best in Cultural Costume as well as a string of corporate awards.

“I’m so happy. Joyful to be honest. It’s eternal knowing the people of Leon is here supporting me. I feel happy, I feel empowered, I feel joyful," Brooks enthused.

Brooks looks forward to representing Iloilo in the Miss Universe Philippines pageant.

"I really hope so because ever since I was a kid I've been dreaming for this moment. I want to represent our country especially Iloilo for Miss Universe stage,” she said.

Her grandmother, identified as “Basing,” she said is with her throughout her journey, as her parents are separated. So when Lola Basing went up the stage to congratulate her dear "apo" (grandchild), Brooks planted a big kiss on her forehead and hugged her warmly.

"To be honest, my grandma, she’s been here the whole time. Ever since I was a kid, I didn’t have anything. She gave me everything. She’s my life. I’ll do anything for her," Brooks expressed further.

Despite the separation, she hopes that her parents are proud of her achievement.

Brooks is an athlete and a model, and is pursuing a degree in business marketing.

Pearl Angel Franco from Ajuy town was adjudged 1st Runner-up with Shaima Al Yansuri of Guimbal town as 2nd Runner-up.

Yansuri also won Best in Advocacy and Tourism Video.

Hamda Judicpa of the Municipality of San Miguel, Raniella Louise Aguila of Cabatuan town, Angel Jed Latorre of the town of Sta. Barbara, and Nicklyn Jutay of the Municipality of Tigbauan joined the ladies in the Top 7.

Latorre was awarded Best in Evening Gown.
