The Department of Education’s division in Bacolod City has opened an investigation into an incident involving two high school students mauling another student inside the classroom.
The victim, a 17-year-old Grade 10 student, was injured in the head and was wounded in the arm.
According to the boy, his two schoolmates went into his classroom and mauled him. One of them even bit him in the arm.
The police said the commotion all started when the victim, the Grade 10 student, teased some of his female classmates.
“Sinuntok siya. Dalawa ang allegedly nag-assault sa kanya. Schoolmate niya. Nagkakantyawan sila. Dahit diyan, nagkasakitan na,” said Lt. Rowena Jean Magan, chief of the Bacolod City Police Station 10.
Authorities are investigating whether a much deeper reason may have led to the mauling.
The DepEd Schools Division Superintendent has taken cognizance of the incident.
“Ang incident ngayon ay nasa office na ng SDS (Schools Division Superintendent). My agreement na among concerns kung mag-seek ng other force action ang parents. I hope na ang parents at ang aming schools will work together on this,” said Lila Vaflor Arro, spokesperson of DepEd Division of Bacolod City.
The school, as well as the parents of the students involved, have declined to comment.

In the Tacloban incident, police have considered personal grudge that may have stemmed from bullying as possible motive in the shooting. Read story: https://www.gmanetwork.com/regionaltv/news/114523/school-bullying-eyed-as-motive-in-tacloban-school-shooting/story/
