Panagsama Beach in Moalboal town, southern Cebu Province has been picked as among the best beaches in Southeast Asia.
In the September 2, 2024 issue of Condé Nast Traveller, Panagsama Beach made it to the list of best beaches in Southeast Asia.
The article penned by David Escribano was published originally by Condé Nast Traveller Spain.
Escribano mentioned that the “rocky coastline of Moalboal’s Panagsama Beach, is located just two and a half hours from the international airport in Cebu.”
“It may not be the best place to travel to if you are looking for a silky sand beach…but what lies in the sea is what earns it a place as one of the best beaches in Southeast Asia,” Escribano pointed out.
“Roughly 100 feet from the shore, the coral reef drops off dramatically, reaching a depth of up to 230 feet. The setting offers perfect conditions for observing the colorful and abundant marine life here. The star attraction are the many sardines that gather near Panagsama Beach. The schools can include millions of fish that move together as one in a fascinating display. Sardines can be found here all year round, although the peak season is from November to April,” he cited.
The other best beaches in the list, in no particular order, are Tonsai Beach in Krabi, Thailand; Coral Bay, Perhentian Kecil, Malaysia; Bawah Reserve, Bawah Island in Indonesia; Cat Co 3, Cat Ba Island, Vietnam; Saracen Bay, Koh Rong Samloem, Cambodia; and Buffalo Bay, Koh Payam, Thailand.
