Tourists flocked to Vigan not just for its historic landmarks but to celebrate its iconic longganisa during the Longganisa Festival 2025.
Participants, including students and chefs, showcased various dishes featuring the beloved local sausage.
Dishes like Tupig Longganisa, Grilled Salmon Longganisa, Longganisa Wonton Soup, Cheesy-Stuffed Eggplant Longganisa, and Milky Longganisa Pudding stole the show.
“Bilang chef, magkakaiba kasi ‘yung paggawa ng longganisa. Gusto natin na mas maganda sana na yung meat nila or longganisa nila gawin mismo dito. Yung mga chef or yung sumasali dito ay magkakaiba ng diskarte kung paano gawin,” Chef Richard Gomez, one of the event’s judges, said.
The festivities also featured the highly anticipated Longganisa Street Dance competition, which brought vibrant energy to the streets of Vigan.
This year’s performances stood out as live bands accompanied the dancers for the first time since canned music was used previously.
“For the past years, music po kasi canned music ang ginamit natin. But for this year, ibabalik natin yung live music, yung mga banda para po tumugtog dun sa sasayawin nila,” Jo-Anne Margarita Gutierrez, Officer-in-Charge of the Vigan City Cultural Affairs and Tourism Office, said.
